We believe children need a place to come play,
be physically active and learn while doing it!
We have big goals because we know Gunnison Valley families need this facility! We want to raise $350,000 to purchase our indoor playground, science exhibits and art/music supplies. We will have the building, now we need to focus on filling it with the best science and play-based activities available! There are hundreds of companies who specialize in making interactive activities just for children's museums and when we reach this goal, we will have the best pieces out there!
Our first purchase will be the 2 story indoor play structure. We have budgeted $50,000-$75,000 for this piece of equipment because we feel it will be the centerpiece of the museum. We have researched several companies and have narrowed it down to a few who can custom design this indoor jungle gym for our specific needs. We will keep you posted on the progress. But, know that the first $50,000 will go directly to having a playground to climb on during the long winter!
We are currently researching the hundreds of other exhibits available. Come by our booth at The Crested Butte Festival of the Arts and give us your opinion on which exhibits your child would love to explore!
Have you ever been to a paint-your-own-pottery store? We are having a paint your own tile party this fall! The tiles will be put into place on the lounge wall in our facility, recognizing your families as founding donors of The Trailhead Discovery Museum and Arts Center! (If you would like to purchase and paint a tile and will NOT be here for the party, other arrangements can be made so your child can paint the tile!)
We have organized our first fundraising campaign. It will be fun , while also raising money to purchase exhibits. We are now selling ceramic tiles that will adorn the lounge wall of The Trailhead Discovery Museum and Arts Center (see floor plans). We have a few sizes and will have some decorating parties this fall so our children can paint thier own tiles! Your child's name and artwork will forever be on the wall of our discovery center! Please remember this is a fundraiser. If you have money you were thinking about donating to a good cause, please consider buying a bigger tile for this project, saving the smaller tiles for families who want to help, but don't have much extra each month. All donations toward tiles are tax-deductable and you will receive a thank you letter confirming your donation for accounting purposes. Every dime you give us will go directly to buying that first play structure and future exhibits.
$100 for a 4x 4 tile for your child/grandchild to paint
$500 for a 6 x 6 tile for your child/grandchild to paint
$1000 for a 12 x 12 tile for your child/grandchild or you to paint
If you do not want to participate in the painting of a tile, we have a local artist who will beautifully illustrate your name on the tile for you. Businesses can also get a logo onto a $1000 tile.
Obviously, there is limited space on the wall, so donate now to be sure your child gets a chance to be on the wall forever!
We are also looking for businesses and families willing to be Trailblazers. Our Trailblazers will have a very special place in our lounge area with a beautiful etched glass piece recognizing all founding donors giving $5000, $10,000 or more!
